Melky Cabrera hit the cycle today and he’s the frist bomber to hit for the cycle since Tony Hernadnez did it in 1995. Melky saved the best for last in his quest for the cycle because the last part he needed was the triple and boy did he make it exciting. Melky jumped up and pumped his fist after sliding into third and his teammates were on the top step of the dugout congratulating  him for a job well done.

Yankee Stadium~Bronx,NY– Chien-Ming Wang looked strong coming out of the box today with his first start after being on the DL and he has a 1,2,3 first inning. Wang got a little roughed up after and gave up 5 runs before Girardi yanked him. The Yankees answered back in the bottom of the fifth tying the game up at 5. The big hit of the inning was Mark Teixeira’s bases clearing double. Teixeira later scored on a clutch hit off the bat of Alex Rodriguez. It was tied at six into the eighth inning but that’s nothing for the team who lives for high action baseball at the end of the game and the Yankees did just that. Melky Cabrera lost the starting center fielder job in spring training but by no means did that stop him from having a break out season right out of the gate. Melky played hero once again when he hit a 2 run homer that just cleared the left field wall and put the Yankees up 8 – 6. CJ Wilson who was lights out last night dropped a few miles per hour off his fastball and the Yankees, Melky specifically took advantage of that by taking him deep (into the first row). Mariano came in in the ninth to close it out but not before the Rangers threatened with runners on the corners and two out. Robertson got the decision and the W but from the looks of things Wang’s going back to the bullpen. With Boston in action today the Yankees are still tied for first place but percentage wise they have the best record in the American League.
