They glanced into the triple-decked wonder this weekend and could agree: theenergy is back. Johnny Damon and Mark Teixeira pumped the volume with back-to-back eighth inning home runs as the Yankees rallied for a 5-2 win and an emotional four-game sweep of the Red Sox.

As Teixeira watched his go-ahead shot off Daniel Bard soar high into the night sky, he carried his bat down to first base, casting it aside when the drive stayed fair. The fourth sellout crowd of the weekend erupted into a frenzy, serenading the falling Red Sox with chants of “Sweep! Sweep!!

“It was a postseason series,” said Andy Pettitte, who hurled seven scoreless innings in arguably his best start of the year. “It really did feel like that. The fans were just unbelievably into it and have always been fired up. There was just a lot of excitement.

IT’S A WALK OFF A-BOMB IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 15TH!

Red Sox Pitcher Junichi Tazawa lets the pitch go but he never sees that ball again as A-Rod hit it into the Red Sox bullpen for a 2 Run Walk Off Home Run. Alex ended a streak of 70+ at bats without a Home Run and he also tied Harmon Killibrew with 573 career home runs.

Cause for Concern?

Posada ran in to Red Sox catcher Victor Martinez for the second out of the bottom of the second inning instead of sliding which would’ve scored the first run of the game. Posada redeemed himself by hitting a HR in the bottom of the fourth to put the Yankees up by six. (Photo Below)

A.J. Burnett has become the Yankees stopper the last couple of times out but he couldn’t do that today against the Red Sox at Fenway Park this afternoon as he gave up a shutout in which the Yankees were leading by 6 runs after 5 innings. The game was half over and he gave up all the runs and then some but before the Red Sox broke the tie the Yankees got much needed double play. The double play made it look like the inning would be over soon but the Red Sox would add two more before ending the bottom of the fifth inning. Burnett did hit Youkilis but on the left thigh and it was obviously not any intent behind it. Beckett’s outing was lengthened due to the Red Sox outburst in the bottom of the fifth but easy come easy go as former Red Sox outfielder Johnny Damon tied the game once again for the Yanks with a long two run home run in the right field seats. After the Home Run Francona promptly went to the pen and called on right handed reliever Manny Delcarmen. Beckett went 5 innings and did not record an out in the top of the sixth. Delcarmen came in dealing as he s
truck out Mark Teixiera looking to record the first out of the sixth inning. Red Hot Nick Swisher hit a one out double against Delcarmen to put the go ahead run in scoring position for the Bombers. Delcarmen ended the inning with a strike out of Posada and he didn’t allow Swisher to score from second base. In a game that was back and forth for almost four and a half hours the Red Sox take another game in the series with a 5 run victory over the Bronx Bombers. The Final Score was 16 – 11 and at the end of the game the Yankees more or less gave up and the Red Sox took advantage of that and padded their lead. Papplebon closed it out in a non save situation and the Yankees left two runners on in the top of the ninth inning. Andy Pettite will take on Justin Masterson tomorrow as they try to avoid the sweep. The Yankees will try once again to BEAT BOSTON!!!

Mariano Rivera blew the save in the ninth inning as he allowed the Red Sox to score twice in the bottom of the ninth inning.Bay homered to tie the game and Youkilis won the game in the 11th inning to make it 5 – 4.The Yankees and Red Sox have been rivals for years but this season the rivalry is renewed and the Red Sox and their fans have some more things to be mad at the Yankees for as they make their first trip to Beantown this year. Mark Teixiera has found another ballpark where he gets booed and that park is Fenway. The Sox mad it clear in the offseason the Teixiera was their number one target but the first baseman decided on New York instead of Boston. Also Kevin Youkilis released a statement recently and it was targeted at Yankees starting pitcher Joba Chamberlain. Youkilis and Joba had their incidents last season where Joba threw high and tight on two seperate occasions. Youkilis specifically warned Chamberlain and the bombers not to throw at the Red Sox during this three game series. Joba pitched six and a third tonight wthout hitting a batter although he did throw a couple of pitches inside to Youkilis but NO hit batters. I don’t think that statistic will hold up for long as there are two more games in beantown and as Yogi Berra said “it aint over till it’s over.”
